126: Two Actions to Help Reverse Rock Bottom

Let’s talk about hitting rock bottom and bouncing back from burnout in engineering, a journey many of us face in our lives.  Burnout recovery feels like such a hard road.

In this episode, I share my personal journey of hitting rock bottom after experiencing grief and divorce. I share the moment everything in my life fell apart, when I found a divorce note at home, and how it triggered a downward spiral where career success no longer mattered.

Despite my previous success as an engineer, I found myself in a state of despair, depression, and embarrassment. However, with the support of loved ones, and taking courageous action outside my comfort zone, I was able to turn my life around and do a lot more than just recover.  I took my career and life to a whole new level.

I share two keys to this turnaround: The importance of having courageous conversations, being fully known, and seeking counsel or talking to a trusted friend to ask for help.

Hit that play button and let’s take action together!
